South will punch most people for most things. Consider yourself warned.

IN-CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Agent South Dakota 'Aubrey Engelsen'
Fandom: Red vs. Blue
Age: mid-30's
Canon Point: post-death
Original Universe or Alternate Universe? Alternate; remembers original stay in Proles, later canon point
Personality:

  • Abrasive. A lot of what she does and says is intentionally meant to throw people off and make them react, or is aggressively defensive if she feels threatened. When her name dropped on the ranking board, she broke formality in order to angrily confront the Director.
  • Brash. She does a lot of things without second thought towards consequences and acts on base instincts. She ignores North's advice to activate her motion trackers during the oil rig mission in order to achieve her objective sooner, which ultimately winds up with them being found out and needing extraction from a hostile situation that could have been avoided with patience. Note: while she is noticeably less-so after North's Death, she's still a queen at making snap decisions that turn out to be Worst Life Choices, such as attempting to dump Delta to the Meta in order to escape
  • Flawed. There are very few things 'right' about the way she acts or her reasoning, and the parts that are right are usually overshadowed by her flaws. She does care about her brother, but she puts herself in situations where he's gotten hurt getting her out of, such as pushing her out of the way of gunfire during the oil rig mission. While actual canon details do not exist about North's death, I find it highly plausible that instead if consciously setting him up, she merely went with instinct to cover her own ass which put North in the position of having to choose to save her or Theta.
  • Proud and Insecure; posturing to give a sense of superiority but in a dominance battle, she buckles first. When Carolina gets implanted with South and Washington's AIs, South flips her shit and breaks Tex's nameplate on her locker, and while there is a tense showdown when Tex confronts her, she eventually submits and gives the other agent what she wants. Post-North's death and considering herself culprit, her pride would take a hit.
  • LOUD. She doesn't bother hiding her thoughts and opinions, whether through blatant comments, explosive sighs, or body language. She yells at the pilot during extraction from the oil rig, calling her a stupid bitch when the cockpit door closes in her face. She's lost this entirely; pulling back in on herself in self-preservation and hiding her guilt.
  • Selfish. She is her number one priority in life and has a high sense of self-preservation despite some of the dangerous shit she gets herself into. When Carolina was in her coma, South actually petitioned to get one of her AIs despite what they did to her and what removing them might still do to her. Nothing, even North's death, has changed this. In fact now she realizes that, without North, it's all she has,
  • Unreliable.  See everything listed above. Would you trust her?
  • Guilty conscious. She loves her brother. Always has, despite all things, and whether intentional or accidental, having caused his death will weigh heavily on her. This is not something she wants anyone else to know.
  • Calculating and distrustful. People are now mostly seen as tools she can use to get from point A to B, and she doesn't trust anyone to be thinking the same about her.

Is this character immune? No
BackgroundStable family life, though she found it oppressive; she was always lumped in with her twin brother and never got a sense of personal identity as a child; she commented her parents dressed them in matching clothes, and anywhere they went they were paired together. In the project, she even wears similar armor to North.  The two do share an extensively efficient fighting style, but South's own desire to personally shine has often gotten them in trouble, endangered, or worse. Her insistence to show off without using her motion trackers and rush to get the objective during the Oil Rig mission blew their cover and required a messy rescue. Even though they were successful in retrieving the data, her brash act that cost them the element of stealth (which is what she and North specialize in), meant she dropped a rank on the boards. When North received Theta, she become even more withdrawn and angry,  making it no secret how she felt about their partnership. When she finally gets cleared for an AI and it ends up being commandeered by Carolina, South flips her shit and breaks things, including Texas' locker.  She is confronted by Texas but loses the dominance battle.  During the final showdown on the Mother of Invention, South confronts Texas with a missile pod, but North intervenes. They fight, but in the end North carries South (exhausted from the battle), and they promise to watch each others' backs.

During her time in Proles, she started a fashion line (OOCly based on the artwork by Synnesai). She enjoyed having a sort of celebrity status among the natives. There were awkward talks; York told her about what happened with her and North and Meta, and she resolved not to tell North.

When she returned to her world, she and North were on the run; from Meta, and from the program. Eventually, they were found. South fails to set her motion trackers and North sacrifices himself and Theta to the Meta to save her. Washington responds to North's beacon, and convinces command he shot South as well, while saving her life. Somewhere in this time, she steals North's enhancement - a domed energy shield - and convines Washington it was taken by the Meta. Wash gives her Delta to implant since he doesn't want to implant anything since Epsilon failed. They continue to hunt the Meta, but when they actually encounter him, South shoots Washington and leaves him as bait to the Meta so she can escape. She reveals she's in contact with command, who instruct her to return with Delta. She refuses, escaping Meta and going on the run again, claiming 'I got my AI' and 'It's not you I'm running from'.

Meta eventually catches up to her, joined shortly after by Washington (who had recovered thanks to the healing unit he'd taken from York's armor body) together with Church and Caboose. She tries to escape again, with the intentions of abandoning Delta and the shield to the Meta in order to get away, and Washington has Caboose 'help' her (aka shooting her so she can't run). Washington gives her a quick interrogation about why she tried to abandon Delta, and then shoots her in the face.

Other Notables: She'll have a limp from Caboose's 'helping'
Inventory: Dumbed-down armor, please for the love of god no weapons
